I made a film to show this work when I was trying to figure out how to display the piece in the Womans Work exhibition at the Link Gallery in Winchester. In the end Linda Hasking was kind enough to make a shelf for the work, but now I have a film too!

Report on the Mortality of Cholera in England, William Farr, 1848-49

The current exhibition at the Wellcome Collection is about Dirt and worth a look. This diagram maps salubrity and mortality alongside monthly temperatures for 12 years, I think.

Maria Falconetti as Jeanne d'Arc

All Tomorrow’s Parties, Alexandra Palace was a triumph sound and image.¬† God Speed You Black Emperor and Portishead both sounded great and had fantastic visuals lapping and tracking their music, and it was great to see Alan Moore in a big shiny coat reading his version Harry Smith’s life alongside his 1960s collage animation, but the big delight was the beautifully mesmerising film,¬† The Passion of Joan of Arc and the soundtrack written for it by Adrian Utley and Will Gregory. How good can 3 harps, 6 electric guitars and the Monteverdi choir sound, good enough to stand transfixed to a spot for an hour and a half, there were tears at the end.
