Maria Falconetti as Jeanne d'Arc

All Tomorrow’s Parties, Alexandra Palace was a triumph sound and image.  God Speed You Black Emperor and Portishead both sounded great and had fantastic visuals lapping and tracking their music, and it was great to see Alan Moore in a big shiny coat reading his version Harry Smith’s life alongside his 1960s collage animation, but the big delight was the beautifully mesmerising film,  The Passion of Joan of Arc and the soundtrack written for it by Adrian Utley and Will Gregory. How good can 3 harps, 6 electric guitars and the Monteverdi choir sound, good enough to stand transfixed to a spot for an hour and a half, there were tears at the end.
